Admissions Procedures and Deadlines

How to Apply
Apply online at www.csumentor.edu

Once you have submitted your application, request your official transcripts from all schools you have attended since secondary school, showing all coursework and any certificates or degrees received, to be mailed directly from the institution to:

Cal Poly Admissions Office
1 Grand Avenue
San Luis Obispo, CA 93407-0250

Note: If any of your education was completed outside of the U.S., unless the transcript is in English, your official transcripts must be submitted in the native language and  accompanied by a certified English translation. The translator must be certified by one of the following:

>> Institute for International Education (IIE)
>> Amideast
>> Saudi Arabian Education Mission
>> United States embassy or consulate

All education completed outside of the U.S. must also be evaluated by an independent evaluation agency. We currently are utilizing AACRAO (American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers) to perform the evaluation. The students must pay the cost of this evaluation.

International students should download the Graduate International Applicant Checklist or visit the Admissions International Student website for further details.

When to Apply
Applications are accepted on a continuing basis, however, to ensure adequate processing and full consideration, please submit an application before the dates listed on the Cal Poly Admissions Office or International Student Admissions websites.

Graduate Record Exam (GRE) This requirement is effective Winter Quarter 2009 for all thesis-based program applicants.  Submit Graduate Record Exam (GRE) General Test scores, taken within the last 5 years, electronically to Cal Poly State University Institution Code: R4038.  For further information visit the GRE website.

Letters of Recommendation
This requirement is effective Winter Quarter 2009 for all thesis-based program applicants. Submit three (3) Letters of Recommendation to:

Your recommender may also send the letter as a PDF file emailed to cafes@calpoly.edu.
The Subject of the email should read “letter of recommendation: applicant's name
