Agricultural Systems Management

You can have a career managing the advanced technologies in today's agricultural and related industries. In the office or in the field, from the board-room to the production floor, Agricultural Systems Management (ASM) graduates hold challenging and well-paying jobs in companies such as:

  • Kendall-Jackson Winery
  • Kubota Tractor Corporation
  • Rogers Foods, Inc.
  • Spreckles Sugar Co., Inc.

The Agricultural Systems Management major at Cal Poly combines hands-on experience in agricultural technology with practical training in the business and management aspects of agriculture. The curriculum, which is recognized by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers, ranges from soil and water and mechanical systems and safety, to electronics and computer controls for agriculture. 

ASM students also take enough business and management classes to earn a minor in agribusiness. Students enrolled in the Agricultural Systems Management major may specialize in an area of their choice, including:

  • Water/Irrigation
  • Mechanical Systems
  • Food Processing
  • Agricultural Waste Management
  • Environmental Information Management 
  • Plant or Livestock Production
  • Processing and Manufacturing
  • The Teaching of Agriculture
